Support Elijah’s Fight Against Cerebral Palsy

Story

My son, Elijah Noel Vela, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy in 2019.

This condition causes his muscles to be very stiff, which makes it difficult for him to move and has caused pain that would only get worse as he grows.

In February 2024, Elijah underwent a life-changing surgery called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy).

This procedure reduced the stiffness in his body and gave him the chance to walk on his own for the first time in his life.

Since then, Elijah has been working every single day to relearn how to use his body without the stiffness he’s lived with for years.

This journey has required 10 months of full-time therapy and care from me and my wife, along with medical appointments, equipment, and travel.

Doctors once said Elijah would never walk, but today, he’s proving them wrong.

He can now balance on his own for minutes and has taken over 40 independent steps.

His speech, motor skills, strength, and even his mood have improved dramatically, but our fight is far from over.

To keep Elijah on the path to walking independently, these next few months are critical.

Intensive therapy and the necessary resources are key to his continued progress.

Our goal is to raise funds to cover Elijah’s ongoing medical expenses, therapy, equipment, and the costs associated with providing him full-time care and support during this crucial season of his life.
